What is IBAA?
Ballast Phoenix Limited is the UK’s leading producer of Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate (IBAA). Commercial manufacture of IBAA by Ballast Phoenix commenced in the UK in 1998 and currently around 300,000 tonnes of recycled aggregates are being produced annually by our company.

IBAA is a heterogeneous material containing glass, brick, stone, concrete, ceramics and fused clinker. The aggregates produced can replace the majority of primary and secondary aggregates complying with EN and British Standards.

The Department of Transport’s Design Manual for Roads and Bridges identifies that IBAA can replace primary and secondary aggregates in most applications. (Volume 7, section 1, chapter 2 ‘Provisions for the Use of Secondary and Recycled Materials Nov 2004’).

All aggregates manufactured conform to the Company’s Quality Protocol.
